Dinas Island – Pwllgwaelod to Cwm Yr Eglwys

This route takes you from one side of the Dinas Head peninsula to the other. We highly recommend this short work if you’re visiting with children – it’s perfect for pushchairs as it follows a tarmac surface between the picturesque cove at Cwm-Yr-Eglwys and Pwllgwaelod. 

Start the walk from the car park at Cwm-Yr-Eglwys. The bay here is a lovely swimming spot, but get down early in the summer as there is limited parking. You can’t miss the remains of a church which was destroyed by a storm in the 1800s.

Follow the path through the caravan park and onto a well-defined path. Follow the path straight ahead until you reach the pub at Pwllgwaelod, a lovely spot for a drink or some food. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can join the coast path circular walk around the whole of the headland, though this is significantly longer and the terrain is tricky in parts. Tip: We always find that on a windy day, either one side of the headland or the other remains sheltered, so this is a great walk for dodging some dodgy weather!
