Beaches Around Brig y Don

The coastline around Brig y Don is one of the great delights of Cardigan Bay, where beautiful beaches and charming coves stretch for miles along the west Wales shore. Beaches Within Walking Distance

There are several lovely beaches and bays you can enjoy without having to drive — ideal for relaxing afternoons, family days out, or evening walks beside the sea. These are some favourites recommended by the owner of Brig y Don:

Morgan’s Beach – A small, sandy cove tucked under slate cliffs and just a short walk from Brig y Don. It’s a perfect choice for a quieter beach stop or for watching the light play on the water in the early evening.

Patch Beach – On the Gwbert side of the Teifi Estuary, this stretch of sand and pebble beach expands dramatically at low tide. You can walk here from Brig y Don — simply turn left as you leave the property — and enjoy its wide open space for paddling or beach games.

These beaches are loved by guests not just for their ease of access, but for the charm of exploring Cardigan Bay at your own pace right from the doorstep.

Mwnt Beach – A classic West Wales cove with golden sands and a distinctive conical hill overlooking the bay.

Poppit Sands – A long, sandy beach at the mouth of the River Teifi, great for beach walks, paddling and (when tides allow) swimming.

Aberporth – Dolwen & Dyffryn Beaches – Two inviting beaches near the pretty village of Aberporth, ideal for families and dolphin-spotting.

Tresaith – A lovely sandy beach with rock pools and a small waterfall that flows onto the sand at high tide.

Penbryn – A beautiful stretch of sand nestled between wooded slopes, great for beachcombing and stargazing.

Ceibwr Bay – A wild and remote beach with rocky inlets and dramatic cliff scenery — perfect for walkers and picnickers.

Newport Sands, Llangrannog & Cwmtydu – More scenic beaches a little further up the coast, each offering their own charm (from sandy stretches to rock pools and rugged cliff backs).

 

Pembrokeshire Coast Beyond: Just a short drive south, Pembrokeshire boasts over 50 beaches ranging from wide sandy shores to hidden coves. These include expansive sandy favourites like Newport Beach and Freshwater West, charming village beaches like Broadhaven & Little Haven, and sheltered coves dotted along the rugged National Park coast.
